Vice President Kamala Harris to Speak at UK AI Summit: Reports

The summit is being organized by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who hopes the UK can be a leader in AI regulation

The United States' Vice President Kamala Harris will represent the country at the United Kingdom's upcoming artificial intelligence summit, according to sources quoted in Bloomberg.

The summit is designed to help draft regulations for AI as the technology outpaces both established laws and social norms.

So far, the Biden administration has issued an AI Bill of Rights as a kind of blueprint for future regulation. It has also gathered a coterie of AI companies together to voluntarily pledge to work with the government on how best to regulate the tech and mitigate potential risks before it overleaps itself and falls foul of both the law and society.

The U.K. summit, which is organized by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, will take place in November at Bletchley Park — a storied tech center that once housed computing pioneer Alan Turing as he broke Nazi codes during World War II. (The White House declined to confirm Harris' travel to Bloomberg.)
