Top Israeli Politician Urges X, Meta, TikTok and Telegram to 'Shut Down' Hamas Accounts - The Messenger

Yair Lapid, a senior centrist Israeli politician, called on social media platforms to block Hamas-linked accounts and channels on Tuesday as misinformation about the Israel-Hamas war continues to flood those apps.

It's unclear whether Lapid's words will fall on deaf ears. In past conflicts, the apps have resisted heavily policing their sites and struggled to clearly establish rules about what's permissible. (X, Meta and TikTok did not respond to a request for comment.)

In an additional sign of social media's influence in the conflict, some schools have reportedly told parents to delete apps like Instagram and TikTok from their children's phones — to protect them from seeing violent images and consuming misinformation.
