Now Only the White House Can Stop the Apple Watch Sales Ban From Happening
It's about to become much more difficult for people in the US to buy the latest generation of Apple Watches
Apple's most recent attempt to delay the impending Apple Watch sales and import ban was denied by the International Trade Commission (ITC) on Wednesday, leaving very few avenues open for Apple to try and stop its smart wearables from disappearing from store shelves.
Apple has an ongoing appeal on the ITC's original decision in October that granted wearables company Masimo's request for a ban on importing and selling Apple Watch models in the U.S. while Masimo pursues legal action over its patents for devices that make light-based blood oxygen level measurements.
Earlier this week, Bloomberg reported that Apple has been exploring software changes in hopes of circumventing the patent infringement claims.
But at this point only a veto by President Joe Biden would prevent the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 from disappearing from Apple's online store at 3 p.m. Eastern today, and from Apple's retail stores on December 25. (The devices will still be available from third-party retailers like Best Buy and Target, but only as long as current stock levels allow.)
