Microsoft’s New Barbie-Themed Xbox Will Look Great In Your Dreamhouse
Barbie finally gets the dream Xbox she deserves, but you have to win a sweepstakes to bring it into your home.
Barbie has worked in every profession under the sun. So it should come as no surprise that she’s also a gamer, and that Microsoft is bringing her impeccable taste to the Xbox.
On Monday morning, Microsoft revealed Barbie’s Dream Xbox Series S, a new game console made in partnership with Mattel and Warner Bros. Pictures, just in time for Barbie’s highly-anticipated-and-memed-about live-action debut next month. And yes, it’s unapologetically pink.
The custom hot pink console was unveiled alongside four unique Barbie-themed controller faceplates, as well as a custom made enclosure for the console meant to invoke the iconic Barbie Dreamhouse, pool and all.
Getting your hands on this impossibly gorgeous Xbox won’t be easy. In fact, very few people will ever see it in person. The custom console is part of a sweepstakes through Xbox’s Microsoft Rewards program. The giveaway is set to begin July 10.
Barbie's new partnership goes beyond consoles: Microsoft is also giving away a limited edition set of Barbie dolls modeled after 10 real-life men and women who work on the Forza video game franchise, complete with Xbox themed wardrobes and accessories. And on July 14, Microsoft will host a Barbie-themed livestream featuring these folks talking about their careers in the gaming space.
For those not lucky enough to win the custom console, there are other ways to celebrate Barbie on Xbox. Forza Horizon 5 players will be able to download a classic 1956 Chevrolet Corvette EV Corvette, modeled after the very car Barbie will drive in her film, as well as Ken’s more modern 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup. Both vehicles can be downloaded for free via Horizon 5’s in-game Message Center.
Barbie’s pink Xbox isn’t the only custom Xbox that has fans dying for a public release. Since the Xbox One, Microsoft has regularly given away these custom Xbox consoles with no way to buy them. From Porsche to Black Panther, these consoles are almost always ultra limited in release, fetching absurdly high prices if you can catch them in the wild.
Barbie hits theaters July 21.
