WATCH: Buffalo Bills Post Video of Highmark Stadium in Blizzard After Bills-Steelers is Postponed
New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the NFL postponed the game until Monday due to inclement weather — and that was probably for the best
On Sunday afternoon, the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steeler were supposed to play for the NFL's first Wild Card matchup of the playoffs.
But the weather had another idea. A strong snowstorm caused New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the NFL to postpone the game until Monday due to concerns about inclement weather.
So as Saturday evening came around, the Bills took to social media to show off the not-so-wonderful wintery scene in the stadium. The video shows the Bills' Highmark Stadium completely covered in snow, with visibility severely limited by the snow and wind whipping through (and seemingly causing the field to ripple).
"Stay safe tonight, Bills Mafia," the Bills wrote in the post.
The game was initially set for a 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. On Friday, Hochul declared a State of Emergency, with a major winter storm set to hit Western New York on Sunday. Although Buffalo has certainly played in the snow before, including in last year's AFC Divisional Playoff against the Cincinnati Bengals, Hochul opted to postpone the game due to "dangerous conditions."
This week has seen a wave of winter storms across the northern United States. In Buffalo, snow and wind gusts up to 51 miles per hour made football near-impossible, but more importantly made traveling to the stadium too dangerous for fans.

Saturday night's matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins was not postponed, despite temperatures below freezing and hitting more than 30 degrees below freezing with windchill.
The postponement means there will be two wild-card games on Monday, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Philadelphia Eagles at 8 p.m. ET.
