Sean McDermott Says Von Miller Will Play Sunday, ‘I’m a Football Coach, I’m Not an Investigator’
Miller turned himself in on an arrest warrant for domestic assault on Nov. 30 after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend
On Nov. 30, Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller turned himself in to authorities in Texas after a warrant for his arrest was issued for domestic assault against his pregnant girlfriend.
Now, Miller is set to play in Buffalo's pivotal game at the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday.
When asked why, Bills head coach Sean McDermott said the team didn't have enough information to sit Miller out.
"I understand this is not an easy situation," McDermott told the media Friday. "The hardest part for us is, I'm a football coach. I'm not an investigator. And we only have so much information at this point, so we're doing the best job we can with what we have or don't have, mostly in this case. I can promise those out there that we have looked into every last thing."
Buffalo had a bye last week as the 6-6 team got time off to gather itself to try to climb back in to the AFC Wild Card picture.
Miller's girlfriend accused him of assaulting her two years ago, but no charges were filed. Now, following an arrest, Miller could be subject to discipline — including a suspension — from the NFL.

For now, McDermott will have the former All-Pro pass rusher available in perhaps Buffalo's biggest game of the season to date.
"We jumped on a call Sunday night again and I said, 'Let's everyone get together and say 'What do we know?''," McDermott said.
"And there were multiple people on that call that represent different parts of our organization who have expertise in these areas. And this is where we're at. I wish I had a better answer for those people. I can promise you we're always going to try and do the best thing; number one, for doing what's right beyond the football field. In this case, this is where we're at and I think, for me and for them, it's we have to continue to take it one day at a time and see what more comes forward."
Miller is in the midst of his worst season yet, as he's recorded no sacks and just two tackles through eight games.
The Bills currently sit three games behind the Miami Dolphins for first place in the AFC East, and are one game removed from the AFC Wild Card.
