Rob Gronkowski Says Browns’ Kevin Stefanski Should Be Coach of the Year: ‘No Doubt About It’

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has been challenged with what feels like never-ending adjustments at the quarterback position, but this hasn't phased the fourth-year head coach.

Former NFL star Rob Gronkowski gave Stefanski his flowers during his Wednesday appearance on the Up & Adams Show.

"Stefanski should be Coach of the Year," Gronkowski said. "No doubt about it."

The Browns have used four different starting quarterbacks (Deshaun Watson, PJ Walker, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and now, Joe Flacco) this season and have won a game with each one of them for a record of 10-5 through Week 16.

"Name another time a coach has done that: won with four different quarterbacks at the helm of getting the top wildcard spot in the playoffs if the Browns win out, which they should," Gronkowski said.

Cleveland finishes the season with a home matchup against the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football, followed by a road game at the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18.

With two wins, the Browns would at least secure the top Wild Card spot. But, with the help of two losses from the Baltimore Ravens, in conjunction with a 1-1 run from the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland could find itself as the top overall seed in the AFC.

The Browns' latest quarterback in this season's rotation is veteran Joe Flacco, who has had an interesting journey to get back into a starting role.

The 38-year-old has struggled with injuries for many seasons, and started this season without a contract.

He was signed to the Browns' practice squad in November after Watson suffered a season ending injury, and took over the starting role in Week 13.

In that four-game span, he has led Cleveland to a 3-1 record while throwing for 1,307 yards, 10 touchdowns to seven interceptions.

"It's a really cool story, he's lights out right now," Gronkowski said. "He just got off the couch a month ago. Kudos to Joe Flacco for doing what he's doing."

Thursday's matchup against the Jets presents a sort of "revenge game" for Flacco who spent 2.5 seasons in New York, including last year. It's no question who Gronkowski will be rooting for.

"When fricken Aaron Rodgers went down [with a torn Achilles in Week 1], they rejected Joe Flacco on the New Jets, and look at him now," Gronkowski said. "I hope he absolutely dismantles the secondary on the New York Jets this week."
