Peyton, Eli Manning Start Beef With Tommy DeVito’s Agent After Calling Him ‘Slimy,’ Godfather Character

'If Peyton wants to challenge me to a 40-yard dash or something, I’d be more than happy to do that,' Stellato said

New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito brought heaps of national attention on his family and agent, Sean Stellato, with his winning performance against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football on Week 14.

But the attention on Stellato also came with a comment from Hall of Famer and ESPN "Manningcast" host Peyton Manning.

After Stellato was shown during the game wearing a pinstripe suit and old fashioned top hat, Manning made a comment about the Italian sports agent's chosen appearance. Stellato share's DeVito's Italian American heritage.

“He looks like Johnny Fontane from ‘The Godfather,'” Manning said.

Johnny Fontane is a character from the classic 1972 film, who is portrayed as a folk singer and godson of an Italian Mafia boss in New York City in the 1940s.

But the comments about Stellato didn't stop there.

Manningcast co-host Eli Manning, then claimed to know Stellato's nickname while in college at Ole Miss.

“Sean ‘Slimy’ Stellato,” Eli said of the agent's past nickname. “I got some inside intel from some of my boys, that was the nickname in college. Slimy."

However, Stellato claims that Eli's intel about his past nickname is false, during an interview with WFAN on Tuesday.

“Never heard that nickname in my life,” Stellato said. “That ‘slimy,’ that word has never entered my head, ever.”

Stellato didn't just take those comments sitting down either. He made a comment back about Manning and his cultural background in response, and even insisted that the two might have to have a talk, and a sprint, sometime soon.

“I don’t know if that’s just him being a southern dude,” Stellato said. “I’m very curious, I’m not judgmental. So until he has a conversation with me – I met Peyton [Manning] at the Pro Bowl in the hotel when my long snapper Andrew DePaola was a Pro Bowler. I don’t know where that came in. But if Peyton wants to challenge me to a 40-yard dash or something, I’d be more than happy to do that.”

Stellato is a long-time agent who will be inducted into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame later this week in Chicago.

“It’s all about Tommy. Tommy and I are very proud Italian Americans. We want to represent our culture in a positive way, and sometimes you have fun with it…we had a little fun with it last night.”
