Patrick Mahomes Wears the Same Red Underwear for Every Game — He Doesn’t Wash It During Win Streaks
'I wash them every once in a while at least, but I mean if we're on a hot streak I can't wash them,' Mahomes said
Patrick Mahomes has revealed his game day superstition.
The Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback admitted that he has worn the same pair of red underwear for every NFL game he has ever played in, during an interview on ESPN's Monday Night Football "Manningcast."
Mahomes said the underwear was first gifted to him by his wife, Brittany Mahomes in his first season as the Chiefs full-time starting quarterback in 2018.
"My wife Brittany got them for me so I have to wear them," Mahomes said. "But at the same time I threw them on that first season, we had a pretty good season that season."
Mahomes won NFL MVP that season and led the Chiefs to the AFC Championship game, throwing for 50 touchdown passes and 5,000 yards.
The underwear has stayed on on game days ever since, but only game days.

"I only wear them for game day though so they're not too worn out," Mahomes said. "I clean them, I wash them every once in a while at least, but I mean if we're on a hot streak I can't wash them. I got to just keep it rolling."
Mahomes has gone 70-18 as a starter since taking over in 2018, winning two MVP awards and two Super Bowl MVPs as well, all while wearing the underwear.
So, he has no immediate plans to stop wearing them.
"As long as I'm winning football games, I'll keep the superstition going," Mahomes said.
