Packers’ Jonathan Owens Reveals How He Met Simone Biles, Had No Knowledge of Her Gymnastics Career

Simone Biles and Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens married in April of 2023, but the four-time Olympic gold medalist had to bring her "A" game to snag Owens.
The pair became Instagram official in August 2020 after meeting during COVID times thanks to the assistance of dating app, Raya.
Speaking on The Pivot podcast, Owens revealed how they meet and incredibly, how he had no idea of Biles' occupation, nor her success.
"So literally, had been on [Raya] for a couple of days, man, and she pops up and I'm like 'let me see who this is.' I had never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity.
"When she won the Olympics I was in college and we didn't have NBC," Owens later said. "We didn't have an Olympic channels and we're in camp. So I'm not paying attention to you know, so I never would have had a moment to where I would have watched."

Owens played it cool after they matched, working out before returning to see there was an update on his phone; on a completely different app.
"I come back and I have some likes on my Instagram -- and then I still waited," he said. "Then she messaged me on the app; 'hey'.
"Man, this gotta be fake," Owens remembered thinking. "I didn't know who she was at the time. But like, the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of followers."
The pair began talking on a Tuesday before eventually meeting in-person three days later in Houston. Owens played for the Texans between 2019-22.
"[When] we hung out man, it was like we hit it off instantly," he said. "You know, we just laughed the whole night."
Notwithstanding a great first date, Owens needed to be convinced to give Biles what she wanted.
"I was afraid to commit. I'm like, 'Man, this my third year. You know, it's kind of early.' But you know, it happens when you least expect it."
Owens remains convinced that he, not Biles, is the prize despite his zero gold medals. Though, Biles does not have an NFL touchdown like her husband, so there's that.
"I always say the men are the catch, man," he told Ryan Clark. "I always say we the catch."
