The New Orleans Saints are considering adding Jon Gruden to their offensive staff, according to Nola.com's Jeff Duncan.

Gruden, who coached the Oakland (and later Las Vegas) Raiders from 1998-2001 and 2018-21 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002-08, coached Saints quarterback Derek Carr for the entirety of his second stint with the Raiders.

The 60-year-old resigned from his post with Las Vegas in October of 2021, just days after the Wall Street Journal revealed he had used racist, homophobic and sexist language in emails he sent during his time as an ESPN NFL analyst.

The next month, Gruden filed a lawsuit against the league, accusing it (and commissioner Roger Goodell) of intentionally leaking the emails and forcing him to resign.

New Orleans wrapped up the regular season with a 48-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, finishing 9-8. The Saints lost out on the final two NFC wild-card spots via tiebreaker.

Carr, in his first season with New Orleans, completed 68.4% of his passes for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions this year.
