Michigan Athletic Director Promises New Contract for Jim Harbaugh During Victory Parade
After winning the national championship, Harbaugh said that he wanted a parade — while AD Warde Manuel wants to keep Harbaugh at Michigan
On Monday, after winning the National Championship, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh said that he wanted a parade.
"Who doesn't love a parade, right?" Harbaugh said.
On Saturday, Harbaugh got his parade, with members of Michigan football parading through the street of Ann Arbor.
But as Harbaugh and the team ended the festivities with a ceremony in Michigan's indoor Crisler arena, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel told fans that he was working to keep the parade going and keep Harbaugh around.
"I will answer the question that I heard about 500 times on the parade route," Manuel said in a speech to fans in Crisler. "I am working on getting this man a new contract, I promise you."
In response, Harbaugh patted his hand over his heart and smiled.

Michigan fans braved chilly weather to get a glimpse of the national champions, who rode around Michigan's campus on trucks before heading south to the basketball arena. The parade, led by the Michigan Marching Band, included appearances from Harbaugh, quarterback JJ McCarthy, running back Blake Corum and more.
Although Harbaugh has hinted at a possible return, his future is still up in the air, with multiple NFL teams expressing interest in the 60-year-old coach. Corum, along with other senior players, is expected to declare for the draft, while McCarthy is expected to announce whether he will stay at Michigan or declare in the coming days — as soon as Sunday, per multiple reports.
