Los Angeles Angels Two-Way Star Shohei Ohtani Has MLB’s Best-Selling Jersey Ahead of Ronald Acuna Jr., Aaron Judge and Fernando Tatis Jr.

It's the first time a Japanese player has had the most popular jersey in the Major Leagues

Chalk it up as yet another milestone for Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani.

The two-way sensation finished this season with the best-selling jersey in MLB, a first for a Japanese player. Ohtani, 29, had appeared in the top 10 in 2018 and 2021, but he beat out fellow stars including Ronald Acuña Jr., who became the first player in history with 40 home runs and 70 steals in a season.

Behind Ohtani is Acuña, while the New York Yankees' Aaron Judge, the San Diego Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr., and the Los Angeles Dodgers' Mookie Betts round out the top five.

The top 10 best-selling jerseys this season also included the Houston Astros' Jose Altuve, the Seattle Mariners Julio Rodríguez, the Braves' Matt Olson, the Astros' Alex Bregman, and the Angels' Mike Trout. Young stars including the Toronto Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Cincinnati Reds' Elly De La Cruz cracked the top 20.

A favorite to earn American League MVP honors, Ohtani is batting .304 with 44 home runs, 95 RBIs, and 20 stolen bags. On the mound, he went 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA in 23 starts for the sliding Angels.

Ohtani, a pending free agent, underwent elbow surgery last week and hasn't played since Sept. 3 due to an oblique injury.

The league and the MLB Players Association published the list Friday based on Nike jersey sales via MLBShop.com since Opening Day.
