Netflix has begun filming a new NBA documentary series, modeled after their NFL version, The Quarterback, with a star-studded cast.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James and Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum highlight the group of featured players, along with Minnesota Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards, Sacramento Kings' Damontas Sabonis, and Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler.

James' SpringHill Company, Barack Obama's Higher Ground Productions and Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions have teamed up to produce the series.

Charania reported that while the series had started filming, there are no details on when the series will begin airing. The show will follow the players time spent on the court, while also giving the audience a glimpse into their personal lives.

For players like James and Tatum, their family lives have already become of interest to their fans. Tatum's young son, Deuce, is often seen at games and spending time with his father, while James' son, Bronny James, is making a name for himself as a freshman at USC.

The basketball-focused content will also be intriguing as four of the players are on the league's top teams; with Tatum's Celtics and Edwards' Timberwolves holding the top spots in their respective conferences.

James being the lone player on a team not currently in their conference's top-five helps the documentary, given that fans will be interested in his life regardless of the Lakers' on-court success.
