Kevin Hart Reacts to Skylar Diggins-Smith Playing Two WNBA Seasons While Pregnant
Diggins-Smith played both 2018 and 2022 while pregnant and was named an All-Star in both seasons
On this week's episode of Thursday Night Football in The Shop on Amazon Prime, Phoenix Mercury guard Skylar Diggins-Smith talked about playing two WNBA seasons while pregnant.
Diggins-Smith mentioned that she played two All-Star seasons while pregnant and led the league in minutes per game both years. Fellow guest Kevin Hart was shocked, asking "With child?"
Once Diggins-Smith confirmed she was playing "with child," Hart turned to The Shop host, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron Janes and asked "What are you doing?"
Diggins-Smith spent the 2023 season on maternity leave after giving birth to her second child earlier this year, but played the 2022 season while pregnant. Diggins-Smith played 34 minutes and averaged 19.7 points, 5.5 assists and four rebounds per game last year to earn her sixth All-Star selection.
While expecting her first child in 2018, Diggins-Smith had another All-Star caliber season as she played 34.1 minutes while averaging 17.9 points 6.2 assists and 3.3 rebounds.
Diggins-Smith's maternity leave in 2023 reportedly caused a rift between her and the Mercury, she said in an interview Edition by Modern Luxury in September. She will be a free agent this offseason and said she hopes her next team will be more supportive of her duties as a parent.

“I’ve definitely been working towards trying to have one of my most productive years next year, because I think a lot of times—especially in sports—you’re not encouraged to have kids. And the teams that I played for in the past when I got pregnant didn’t like that,” Diggins-Smith said. “And so I’m looking forward to being somewhere where my family and I are supported and welcomed.”
