Kevin Durant Denies That He’s Frustrated With Suns: ‘I Don’t Want to Get Traded’

The Phoenix Suns, thanks to injuries, a lack of a true starting point guard and little depth, have struggled to keep pace in the Western Conference this season.

The Suns (19-18) are in ninth place in the West, and according to The Messenger's forecast, hold a 6.7% chance of reaching the NBA Finals, and a 3.7% chance of winning it.

Star forward Kevin Durant, though, says he's happy in Phoenix — despite ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reporting otherwise on Christmas Day.

"I don't want to get traded," Durant told Fox Sports' Melissa Roslin on Monday. "I'm not frustrated because Brad [Beal] was injured. I wasn't frustrated because of the role players on the team. That s--- really was ignorant to me, you know what I'm saying?"

Based on how this season has gone so far, it would be easy to understand if the two-time NBA champion was at least marginally displeased with the state of the franchise.

Beal, who the team traded for in June, has appeared in just 13 games after suffering a back injury during the preseason. Even when on the court, the three-time All-Star is averaging 16.4 points per game, a mark that — if the season ended today — would serve as his lowest scoring output since his rookie year.

Devin Booker, on the other hand, has missed nine games, while Durant has missed seven. In total, Phoenix's leading trio has played in just five games together.

Durant has missed the least amount of time of the three, and the 35-year-old has been his usual efficient and unguardable self.

The 2014 league MVP is averaging 29.6 points (on 52.5% from the field, 47.4% from three and 87.5% from the line), 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.

Those numbers haven't translated into team dominance for the Suns, though. However, Durant is staying patient and putting in the work as Phoenix attacks the middle-third of its schedule.

"It's like, yeah, we lose a game – you think I'm supposed to be happy after we lose a game? You know what I'm saying? I'm not frustrated with the whole situation," Durant told Fox Sports. "I may be frustrated at the moment, at a bad play or a tough stretch. But nah, I enjoy the grind."
