Kevin Durant Says He Will Play for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics
Durant was part of the U.S. team that won gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo
Kevin Durant will join Team USA in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, he told reporters Monday at Phoenix Suns media day.
"I will play in the Olympics next year," Durant succinctly said when quizzed as to his availability for Paris 2024.
Durant, the Suns superstar and two-time NBA champion, has decided to pursue another gold medal with the American team. LeBron James has hinted that he will also be in France with Stephen Curry as the U.S. goes for a fifth consecutive gold medal win. Not since the 2004 Games in Athens has Team USA failed to win it all.
Durant, the 2014 NBA MVP and a 13-time All-Star, didn't play in last month's FIBA World Cup. He was part of the U.S. team that won gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid could team up with Durant after revealing earlier Monday he was considering playing for the U.S, France or his native Cameroon at the Games.
