Jerry Jones on Ceedee Lamb’s Desire to Be Highest-Paid Receiver: ‘There’s a Lot More of Him to Come’

On Thursday, Dallas Cowboys wideout Ceedee Lamb told reporters that he would "ideally" become the highest-paid receiver in the NFL this offseason.
Naturally, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones was asked about the topic during his Friday appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.
Lamb, 24, is in the fourth season of his five-year rookie contract — Dallas picked up the option for the final season in April. The Las Vegas Raiders' Davante Adams is currently the highest-paid wideout in the league based on the total value of his contract (five years, $140 million), per Spotrac.
"You don't talk your business and negotiate in a public forum," Jones said. "But the point is, he has certainly met the mark of anything that we thought he could be when we drafted [him]."
Since the Cowboys selected him with the 17th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, Lamb has been one of the most productive receivers in the league. Since his rookie season began, the former Oklahoma standout ranks fifth in receptions (382), fifth in receiving yards (5,047) and tied for ninth in receiving touchdowns (30).
This year alone, the now-three-time Pro Bowl selection leads the league in receptions (122), and ranks second in receiving yards (1,651) and tied for third in receiving touchdowns (10). Lamb has been a crucial component of an offense that is tied for third in the league in points per game (29.4).
Ultimately, Lamb said he is focused on helping the Cowboys (11-5) win their first Super Bowl in nearly three decades. As Dallas gears up for a Week 18 road matchup against the Washington Commanders (4-12) and its impending postseason run, he told reporters "after that, we'll start talking."

Jones, though, is well aware of the capabilities of the fourth-year receiver. Come the offseason, Lamb and the Cowboys will surely get going on ironing out a long-term extension.
"When CeeDee dropped down there to us, it was a no brainer to bring him on. And he's lived up to that," Jones added. "And I think he's just getting started. I think there's a lot more of him to come."
