George Kittle Says 49ers Players Celebrated Cowboys Loss While Checking Scores During Game vs. Cardinals

Add the San Francisco 49ers players to the list of individuals celebrating the Dallas Cowboys' latest loss.

San Francisco tight end George Kittle says he and his teammates were watching the scoreboard at State Farm Stadium during their game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, looking to see if the Cowboys were losing. They were.

Upon realization that the Cowboys were en-route to a lopsided 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Kittle says he and his teammates started bumping fists in celebration, during an interview on the Rich Eisen Show on Monday. Kittle previously was fined $13,699 for wearing an explicit t-shirt that read "F--- Dallas."

Kittle added that he was especially happy about the result, because he is a fan of Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

"Me personally, I'm a huge Josh Allen fan," Kittle said. "And he's an overall great guy, and everyone who has ever played with him says he's incredible."

However, outside of affection for another player in another conference, the 49ers did serve to gain some ground in the NFC playoff race with Dallas' loss. San Francisco will maintain its grip on the No. 1 seed and homefield advantage for at least another week with the Cowboys loss, and could come even closer to clinching it with a loss by the Philadelphia Eagles to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday.

The Cowboys were looking like the biggest threat to the 49ers in the NFC after defeating the Eagles 33-10 on Dec. 13, but the loss to Buffalo sends them back into the wild card standings and creates a two-game lead for San Francisco by virtue of the 49ers' 42-10 win over Dallas in Week 5, which gives the 49ers the tiebreaker if they finish with the same record.

Dallas' win over Philadelphia and subsequent loss to the Bills works out most advantageous to the 49ers, as they have now closed the gap on the Eagles and own the tiebreaker over them by virtue of a 42-19 win on Dec. 3.

The 49ers have beaten the Cowboys in the playoffs in back-to-back years, and could be on track to a third straight meeting this season based on how the playoffs shake out.
