Final Pac-12 Championship Game Between Oregon-Washington Was Most-Watched in Conference History
Washington's 34-31 win over Oregon averaged 9.2 million viewers on ABC, and peaked at 11.1 million, in the final Pac-12 championship
After a chaotic year, the Pac-12 conference has gone out with a bang.
Friday's Pac-12 conference championship game, which Washington won 34-31 over Oregon, was the most-watched title game in conference history. The game averaged 9.2 million viewers on ABC and peaked at 11.1 million viewers, ESPN announced Saturday.
The game was seemingly the final iteration of the conference's championship game, as 10 of the conference's teams depart into other conferences next season.
The only two teams remaining, Washington State and Oregon State, will play as a "Pac-2" and will compete with the Mountain West conference.
The Pac-12 has had one of its best seasons as a conference in recent memory, with Washington and Oregon consistently ranked in the top 10 throughout the season and other Pac-12 teams making the AP Top 25 poll.
Friday's game, held in the Las Vegas Raiders' Allegiant Stadium, was sold out. Pac-12 mascots cheered from the sidelines during the game, making some fans emotional as the mascots were gathered together for the last time.
