An NRG Stadium luxury suite at the College Football Playoff national championship game between Michigan and Washington was the place to be, as it featured NBA icon Michael Jordan, Yankees legend Derek Jeter and ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.

Smith was close with a woman wearing a Michigan hat and stop and a stadium access laniard. They were engaged in an impassioned conversation as Smith held his arm around her back and shoulder, seen in ESPN footage.

At one point, Jeter came up to give Smith a handshake and a pat on the shoulder at the same time. Smith also turned to face Jordan in a few brief exchanges.

Hip-hop artist Travis Scott stood all the way to the right of the balcony behind Jeter. He did not speak to anyone in the footage.

Jeter was the other visible Michigan supporter in the crowd, sporting a Michigan hoodie. Jeter did not go to Michigan, however, he grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan for much of his childhood and received a scholarship offer from the university to play college baseball. But he declined and enter the MLB Draft.

Jeter has seen Smith at his lower moments as well. When Smith was invited to throw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium before New York's game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sept. 21, the pitch was so low and away that fans booed Smith as we walked off the mound. Smith said before the pitch that Jeter was there to see the whole thing.

"My man Derek Jeter gave me inspiration, and he told me 'don't F this up,'" Smith said in footage posted to X (formerly Twitter) before the pitch.. "And he wants to see the video as soon as I finish."
