Dwight Howard Signing With Filipino Team in Ongoing Attempt to Return to NBA: Report
Howard last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season with the Los Angeles Lakers
Dwight Howard is signing with Filipino team Strong Group, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Howard, an eight-time NBA All-Star and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, will join the club for the Dubai International Basketball Championship, which runs from Jan. 19-28.
The move comes amid Howard's continued attempts to make a return to the NBA. He last played in the league in the 2021-22 season with the Los Angeles Lakers, and said last month that he would be able to help the struggling Detroit Pistons.
It also comes amid an ongoing lawsuit against Howard, accusing the 38-year-old of sexual assault and battery. In October, Howard testified that he engaged in "consensual sexual activity" with the plaintiff during a July 2021 encounter at his Georgia home, and has asked for the case to be dismissed.
