Duke and quarterback Riley Leonard received good news on Sunday, with the high ankle sprain he suffered in Saturday's loss to Notre Dame not season-ending, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Leonard was sacked on the final play of the 21-14 loss, which he fumbled.

The star junior lost the ball when he was sacked by Notre Dame defensive lineman Howard Cross III, which resulted in the quarterback's ankle bending when he was pulled to the ground.

Leonard was then carried off the field by two teammates, not putting any weight on the ankle that was bent, and made his way to the blue medical tent.

The Alabama native will reportedly miss multiple weeks, but will return at some stage this season.

Duke fell to No. 19 in the AP Top 25 poll, and down to fourth place in the ACC after Saturday's loss.

The Blue Devils do not play another game until it hosts in-state rivals NC State on Oct. 14, giving Leonard almost two weeks to try to return to play without missing a game.

Following the State game, Duke play at No. 5 Florida State on October 21 and at No. 25 Louisville the succeeding Saturday.
