Dolphins’ Raheem Mostert Set a Goal of Being a First-Time All-Pro at 31 — How Is He Making It Happen?

Mostert told SiriusXM NFL Radio that he's 'been trying to do everything that I possibly can to reach that achievement'

At the age of 31, Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert is having a career year. It's exactly what he expected and aimed to do since the end of last season.

"This offseason, my mentality was just, I put it on my phone as a mood board, a visualization board, of being All-Pro. That's the first thing I did once the season was over with last year, was something that I wanted to do," Mostert told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Saturday. "I put it on my Apple Watch, put it on my phone."

Mostert, in his second season with Miami, has racked up 209 carries for 1,012 yards and 18 touchdowns — all career-best marks.

His 18 rushing touchdowns, in fact, are the most in the league — three ahead of quarterbacks Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts and four ahead of the nearest tailback (San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey).

At the age of 31, Mostert is peaking at an unusual time for players at his position. Running backs generally see a decline in their performance in their late 20s due to the unique physical toll and speed requirements of the position. However, Mostert has defied father time with a strict lifestyle.

Mostert previously told The Messenger that consuming fish oil is an essential practice in his routine for improving muscle and joint health while reducing inflammation. One of Mostert's more high-tech tools is a BEMER therapy device, which promotes blood circulation, playing into muscular health and performance.

"I try to make sure I'm doing everything [in terms of] due diligence of serving myself, and the integrity of my health," Mostert says. "Whether it be going in the cold tub for 15-20 minutes, or doing contrasts of a hot and cold tub, going in the sauna, steam room to make sure I'm breathing and controlling my breathing, to having the training staff work on my joints and my feet and everything."

Now, with the Dolphins (11-5) hosting Allen and the Buffalo Bills (10-6) in a Sunday Night Football showdown that will decide the AFC East and the No. 2 seed in the conference, their stellar running back credits his offseason mindset with getting him to this point.

All-Pro honors, of course, will not be announced until the regular season is over.

But for Mostert, he can certainly say that his ambitious goal-setting has paid off. The speedy running back has been a crucial part of the Dolphins' unique and dynamic offense all year, and his 21 total touchdowns are three ahead of former Miami wideout Mark Clayton for the most scores in a single season in franchise history.

The ninth-year pro, who is questionable for Sunday night's game with knee and ankle injuries, is embracing the opportunity.

"This year I've been trying to do everything that I possibly can to reach that achievement," Mostert added on his quest to become an All-Pro. "That's a personal goal, but also trying to help the team out and trying to win a Super Bowl and trying to get to the big dance."
