Colorado Buffaloes Started Signing Players Up For Disability Insurance After Travis Hunter Injury: Report
Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, son of head coach Deion Sanders, was reportedly the first player to be signed up for the insurance
Just days after Colorado football star Travis Hunter suffered a lacerated liver during a game, head coach Deion Sanders' team has now signed three players up for disability insurance, according Sportico.
None of the players on Colorado's roster were insured before the team's 43-35 win over Colorado State in Week 3 — where Hunter suffered the liver injury — per the report.
In the last two weeks, three players — Sanders's son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and wide receivers Xavier Weaver and Jimmy Horn Jr. — signed up for permanent total disability and critical injury coverage from California-based insurance agency Paradigm Gilbert.
Hunter has reportedly not been insured because the firm prefers to sign up a player when they are medically cleared to play.
Hunter is still recovering and is not expected to return until at least after Colorado's Week 6 road game against Arizona State as reported by 247 Sports.
The two-way star has emerged as one of the biggest stars in college football this year at both wide receiver and cornerback. But, when Henry Blackburn committed a late hit on Hunter's ribs in the first quarter, the Buffaloes star was sent to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a lacerated liver.

Colorado defensive back Shilo Sanders, Deion's other son on the team, has been in the hospital since returning from the team's 42-6 loss to Oregon last Saturday. However, the defensive back reportedly has not yet secured insurance.
Hunter announced that he was okay following the injury during a Twitch stream on Sept. 18, just two days after the injury. Blackburn had received death threats in the aftermath of the hit, Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell told reporters that same day.
The pair made peace after the injury, as Blackburn posted a video of the two players going bowling, shaking hands and hugging Thursday.
