Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has further solidified himself as one of the most lovable coaches in the NFL during a radio appearance Tuesday.

Speaking broadly on the fourth down risks taken by the Lions, Campbell delivered a quote for the ages.

"Here’s what I would say—because I tell my family this—just wear a diaper before some of these games," Campbell told Stoney & Jansen with Heather.

"I’ll give them an alert and say, ‘Put them on and be ready to roll.'"

Before Detroit (7-2) eventually won 41-38 on the road vs. the Chargers, Campbell elected to go for it on 4th & 2 from the L.A. 26-yard line with scores tied at 38-38 with 1:47 remaining in the game.

The gutsy call resulted in a six-yard pass from Jared Goff to Sam LaPorta down to the 20-yard line.

Goff then kneeled down thrice before Riley Patterson nailed a 41-yard field goal to lift the Lions within one game of the NFC's No. 1 seed.

"I had a feeling going into that game, we needed to be aggressive," Campbell added.

"And I loved our matchup offensively - and I just knew our guys would respond. So, certainly in that moment it felt like the right thing to do," Campbell

Up next for the NFC North-leading Lions is a home game against its divisional rival, Chicago (3-7).
