Damian Lillard On Playing First Game with Giannis Antetokounmpo: ‘He Can Dominate A Game’
The new star duo played its first game together in Milwaukee's Sunday night preseason matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers
Just weeks after joining the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a blockbuster three-team trade, Damian Lillard played his first game with new All-Star teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo in a preseason matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.
Last year, Lillard expressed interest in playing with Antetokounmpo when he chose him when asked "If you were to pick a player that would help you win a championship, who would you pick?" in a GQ interview. On Sunday, Lillard saw the potential of the potential for the first time on the floor.
"I come out and first play, first couple plays of the game, they blitz me, they trap me, and the guy that I'm releasing the ball to is Giannis," Lillard said postgame. "I'm thinking 'we can do this all night.'
"I think it's just everybody enjoys it because we all will benefit from each other being on the floor."
While Lillard played just 22 minutes, and Giannis only 15, the new star duo showed promise. Lillard finished with 14 points on 3-of-10 shooting while Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 16 points and eight rebounds.
