Chiefs’ Charles Omenihu Gifting Peacock Subscriptions to Chiefs Fans Ahead of Wild Card Game Against Dolphins
The Chiefs' wld card matchup against the Dolphins Saturday will be streamed exclusively on Peacock, an NBC-owned service
Saturday's wild card matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins will be streamed exclusively on Peacock, meaning fans must sign up for a monthly subscription to watch a singular playoff matchup -- a reality that many players and media personalities alike have taken exception to.
Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu has openly expressed his displeasure with this decision and is making amends in his own way by handing out 90 three-month Peacock memberships on Twitter this Friday.
For both Dolphins and Chiefs fans in their local markets, the game will be available on broadcast television but this still excludes fans attempting to tune in out-of-market. The subscription to the streaming service costs $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year.
The deal between NBC and the NFL was announced in May of 2023, becoming the first-ever exclusive live streamed NFL playoff game. At the time, the Wall Street Journal reported the one-year deal is valued at approximately $110 million.
"We are excited to work with a great partner in Peacock to present the first-ever exclusively live streamed NFL playoff game this upcoming season," said Hans Schroeder, NFL Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NFL Media, in a May statement.
"Expanding the digital distribution of NFL content while maintaining wide reach for our games continues to be a key priority for the League, and bringing the excitement of an NFL playoff game exclusively to Peacock's streaming platform is the next step in that strategy."
