Cavaliers’ Evan Mobley Set to Miss Over a Month Due to Arthroscopic Knee Surgery
The 22-year-old has missed the Cavaliers' last four games due a left knee injury
Cleveland Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and likely miss the next six-to-eight weeks, the franchise announced on Friday afternoon.
The 22-year-old has missed the Cavaliers' last four games due a left knee injury. Mobley is averaging 16 points (on a career-best 57.3% from the field), 10.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game this season, his third in the NBA.
Mobley's extended absence only adds to Cleveland's injury woes.
The Cavaliers also announced that guard Darius Garland will miss several weeks due to a fractured jaw he suffered on Thursday against the Boston Celtics.
Staying afloat without two of their top players will be a challenge for Cleveland, specifically for guard Donovan Mitchell. The Cavaliers (13-12) are currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, just one game back of the sixth-place New York Knicks.
