Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will miss his second straight game with a bruised rotator cuff, the team confirmed on Friday.

CBS Sports' Josina Anderson was the first to report on Thursday that Watson would miss Cleveland's Week 6 home matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported Friday that Watson, who is medically cleared, cannot currently drive through the ball enough for live action.

Watson initially suffered the injury in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans, with rookie signal caller Dorian Thompson-Robinson filling in during Cleveland's Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

However, head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters on Wednesday that seven-year veteran P.J. Walker would get the start against San Francisco if Watson was unable to play.

In his second season with the Browns, Watson is completing 63.7% of his attempts for 678 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.

Cleveland (2-2) hosts San Francisco (5-0) at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. The Browns are currently a half-game back of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens for first place in the AFC North.
