Browns’ Deshaun Watson Won’t Play vs. 49ers: Report
Browns backup quarterback P.J. Walker is expected to get the start Sunday
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson won't play in Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, according to CBS Sports' Josina Anderson.
Watson missed the Browns' last game against the Baltimore Ravens with a bruised rotator cuff in his right shoulder that he sustained in Week 3's 27-3 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson started in place of Watson against the Ravens, throwing for 121 yards and three interceptions. Though, P.J. Walker is expected to start in Watson's place this week instead.
The Browns are 2-2 and coming off their bye week and will now be without Watson, who is currently signed to a five-year, $230 million contract, against the undefeated 49ers.
Cleveland went 4-7 without Watson last year and are now 4-8 without him since trading for him from the Houston Texans in the 2022 offseason.
