49ers QB Brock Purdy In Concussion Protocol, Status for Week 8 vs. Cincinnati Uncertain
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Wednesday that Purdy showed concussion symptoms on the plane ride home from Minneapolis
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is in concussion protocol, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Wednesday.
Shanahan told reporters that Purdy started showing concussion symptoms on the plane ride back from Minneapolis, following the 49ers loss to the Minnesota Vikings Monday night.
At this time, it is not apparent when Purdy sustained the injury.
Purdy successfully returned to the 49ers at the start of the season after tearing his ulnar collateral ligament in the 2022 NFC title game against Philadelphia. Shanahan quickly renamed Purdy as the starting quarterback after his surprising breakout last season.
San Francisco's backup quarterback Sam Darnold would be expected to start in Purdy's place if he can't play on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
