49ers Fans Already Facing Steep Price Hike on Flights Home From Las Vegas the Day After Super Bowl
Flights from Las Vegas to the Bay Area the day after the game range from $409 to $588, while those same flights are under $100 on most other dates
The 12-4 San Francisco 49ers clinched a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs on Sunday with a 27-10 win over the Washington Commanders.
Now, some fans are already looking ahead to a potential Super Bowl LVIII matchup in Las Vegas and the steep travel prices that come with it.
Plane tickets from Las Vegas to the Bay Area the day after the Super Bowl on Feb. 12 have shot up to $409 for the cheapest flight, according to SF Gate, with some going as high as $588.
These are not normal prices for this route, as flights from Las Vegas to Bay Area airports two weeks before the Super Bowl on Jan. 22 are going for as low as $79. Meanwhile, flights on that route scheduled two days after the Super Bowl drop down to around $100.
The 49ers are currently the favorite to win Super Bowl LVIII at +215, but their odds of making it to the big game are even better at -125, per Caesars Sportsbook.
San Francisco fell short of reaching the Super Bowl last year after quarterback Brock Purdy suffered an elbow in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and lost 31-7.
But this year, the 49ers would play the NFC championship game at their home stadium in Santa Clara, California. They will only need one win in the NFC divisional round to set up that home championship game with the first round bye.

The Eagles, who proved to be the best team in the NFC last year, have taken a step back recently having lost four out of their last five games, capped off by a 35-31 loss to the last-place Arizona Cardinals at home on Sunday.
Meanwhile, no other team in the NFC has more than 11 wins going into the final week of the season.
The 49ers will host the Los Angeles Rams in their season finale, as both teams may end up resting starters after the Rams clinched a playoff spot.
Still, anyone booking plane tickets to the Super Bowl already are surely taking a risk, as anything can happen in the NFL playoffs.
