White House Touts Romney Comments Over GOP Impeachment Probe
During the interview, Romney said he would vote against the impeachment inquiry if he was a representative
A White House spokesperson on Sunday touted remarks Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, made during an interview concerning House Republicans' efforts to formalize an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden.
The White House spokesperson sent a partial transcript of Romney's remarks out shortly following the interview, according to reporting in The Hill.
During the interview with NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, the Utah senator said if he was a representative, he would vote against an impeachment inquiry because he has not seen evidence demonstrating wrongdoing on President Joe Biden's part.
"We're not going to impeach someone because of the sins of their kids," Romney said.
The House will vote on whether to formalize the impeachment inquiry this week. House Republicans allege that the president benefitted from the business dealings of his son Hunter Biden.
