White House Press Secretary Calls Impeachment Efforts ‘Waste of Time’
'What we're seeing from House Republicans is a waste of time and it is certainly a baseless political stunt,' Jean-Pierre said about the impeachment inquiry
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a briefing on Thursday that Republicans' efforts to impeach President Joe Biden are a "waste of time."
When asked about the impeachment inquiry into Biden approved by a House vote on Wednesday, Jean-Pierre blasted Republicans behind the moves.
"What we're seeing from House Republicans is a waste of time and it is certainly a baseless political stunt," the press secretary responded.
She also mentioned negotiations about supplemental funding for Ukraine and discussions about the southern border, and a possible government shutdown that could happen in January — all things still up in the air at the House.
"They haven't been able to get that done," Jean-Pierre argued.
"You've heard it from Republicans themselves, they're wasting their time. Instead of doing the work on behalf of the American people, they go after the President's family," she said, referring to the investigations into Hunter Biden's business dealings.
The president's son also skipped a closed-door deposition on his father's impeachment inquiry on Wednesday, calling it an "illegitimate investigation" based on "distortion, manipulated evidence and lies."
