White House Funding Request For Israel and Ukraine Aid Could Come This Week: Report
President Joe Biden says the United States has the 'capacity' and 'obligation' to help both countries
The White House could be making a supplemental funding request for aid to both Israel and Ukraine as soon as this week, according to a new report.
A NBC News report, citing two congressional aides and two administration officials, suggested on Sunday that the request to Congress could be made by the end of the week, but there is no official timeline yet.
Other indications this week could see significant movement on aid to Israel and Ukraine is National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan declaring Sunday on Face the Nation that he expects "intensive engagement with Congress this very week."
Sullivan said in a CNN interview on Sunday that President Joe Biden will be making "hard decisions" to get more than a dozen confirmed Americans hostages home.
Israel is currently responding to Hamas attacks that took the lives of hundreds of citizens, including more than two dozen Americans.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., also announced he is leading a trip for himself and a group of lawmakers to Israel to show their "unwavering support."
Biden meanwhile said in a 60 Minutes interview that he believes the United States has the "capacity" to simultaneously help Israel and Ukraine as both countries face wars.
