Video of Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., pulling a fire alarm in the Capitol was released on Thursday, showing the congressman take warning signs off of a set of doors before pulling the fire alarm.

CNN published the video Thursday, airing it alongside an interview with Bowman in which he continued to proclaim his innocence and say that the act was accidental.

"I pulled the fire alarm, I did not do it to disrupt the court proceeding," said Bowman. "Like I said, I was trying to get out the door, I was rushing to a vote."

The incident occurred during voting on an appropriations stopgap in September, and Bowman was charged with willfully and knowingly pulling a fire alarm, a misdemeanor charge that will be dropped against Bowman after three months if he pays a $1,000 fine and issues an apology to Capitol Police.

Bowman pleaded guilty Thursday and said he looks forward to the charges being "ultimately dropped."
