Former President Donald Trump on Saturday reiterated his threats against Obamacare at an Iowa rally, despite the program's popularity.

"We're gonna fight for much better health care than Obamacare," Trump said. "Obamacare is a catastrophe. Nobody talks about it."

The former president also criticized the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who voted against an effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

"You know, if it weren't for John McCain, we would have had it done," Trump said.

Trump has ramped up attacks against Obamacare in recent months, vowing to create a "better" and "less expensive" system than the popular health care program that covers more than 40 million Americans. Polling indicates that the program has only grown in popularity among voters over the years.

The former president, who attempted to "repeal and replace" Obamacare while in office, has said he is "seriously looking at alternatives" to the program — comments Democrats have slammed.
