Former President Donald Trump responded to quotes about him in former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney's new book, accusing the former chair of the House Republican Conference of suffering "from Trump Derangement Syndrome."

In her book Cheney "Oath and Honor," Cheney describes an interaction with Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., when the former Speaker visited Trump in Mar-a-Lago after the 2020 elections.

"Trump's not eating so they asked me to come see him ... he's really depressed," McCarthy told Cheney, according to her book.

Early Monday morning, Trump responded, saying McCarthy was only at Mar-a-Lago to get his support and unite the GOP.

"Crazy Liz Cheney, who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome at a level rarely seen before," he wrote on Truth Social.

"I was not depressed, I WAS ANGRY," Trump continued. "And it was not that I was not eating, it was that I was eating too much. But that’s not why Keven McCarthy was there."

The former president blasted Cheney for working with the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

"Liz Cheney, on the other hand, went on to lose her seat in Congress by the largest margin for a sitting Congressperson in the history of the U.S.," he continued. "She then worked with others on the J6 Committee to delete and destroy the evidence and findings of the committee."
