Donald Trump's former hand-picked Attorney General Bill Barr said on Fox News Sunday that Trump is "toast" if "even half" of the indictment against the former president is true.

"It is a very detailed indictment and it's very, very damning," Barr said.

"I was shocked by the degree of sensitivity of these documents and how many there were, frankly," Barr added.

Trump quickly fired back on Truth Social, slamming Barr as a "gutless pig."

The Department of Justice on Wednesday indicted Trump on 37 felony counts, many of which fall under the Espionage Act.

A federal investigation leading to the indictment against Trump was launched after classified documents from his time in the White House were found in his South Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago, last year.

“Trump was not authorized to possess or retain those classified documents, stated the indictment, which was unsealed Friday.

He's accused in the indictment of keeping the classified documents from the government, and sharing them with people who lacked the required security clearance.

"I think the counts under the Espionage Act — that he willfully retained those documents — are solid counts," Barr emphasized.

Trump's arraignment is scheduled Tuesday in Miami.

Trump earlier insisted on Truth Social: "I AM AN INNOCENT MAN," and again called the investigation a "witch hunt."

After Barr's Fox News interview Trump fired back, not only calling him a "gutless pig," but "lazy," a "disgruntled former employee," and "weak & totally ineffective." Trump also insisted Barr "doesn't mean what he's saying."

Trump vowed on Saturday that even if he's convicted in the classified documents case, he'd "never leave" the presidential race.
