Trump in Newly Uncovered Deposition: There Would Have Been a ‘Nuclear Holocaust’ If I Wasn’t Elected
The former president made the comments after being questioned by lawyers on his involvement with the Trump Organization during his time as president
Former President Donald Trump told prosecutors he avoided a “nuclear holocaust” with North Korea and “saved millions of lives” while he was president, per a newly-filed deposition in the civil case against Trump in New York.
“I think you would have nuclear holocaust, if I didn’t deal with North Korea,” Trump said. “I think you would have a nuclear war, if I weren’t elected. And I think you might have a nuclear war now, if you want to know the truth.”
The former president made the comments after being questioned by lawyers on his involvement with the Trump Organization during his time as president. Trump told lawyers that while he "rarely" had "anything to do" with the business after taking office, his children took on more responsibility.
"They became more intensely involved with the company," Trump said. "I was virtually not involved at all."
The case was filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James against Trump, the Trump Organization, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump and accuses the defendants of fraud. A trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 2, but James' office has urged the judge to issue a ruling before then.
