Trump Calls New York Trial ‘Disgraceful,’ Says He’s Been Defrauded
Trump’s latest pointed remarks come amid a federal fight by special counsel Jack Smith to place a narrow gag order as a result of his remarks both in-person and online
Former President Donald Trump on Monday called his New York civil trial “disgraceful” and said he is being defrauded.
"You’ve got murders going on all over the city, all over the state, at a record level. It’s an epidemic and they waste their time with this,” Trump said while speaking to reporters outside a Manhattan courtroom.
Trump questioned the need for trying a case that “the Appellate Division of New York State has just ruled recently that we want 80% of our case, and this judge refuses to acknowledge the ruling, which is very plain for all to see.”
Trump took several shots at Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron, calling him a “rogue judge” and a “Trump hater.” He then accused Attorney General Letitia James of hating him more than Engoron, adding that she’s a “total fraud” and a “corrupt person.”
He then referenced Engoron's listing of the value of Trump’s Mar a Lago property at $18 million, saying that the “people who do this” in Palm Beach County, where the property is located, “agree with us 100% and they say the judge is wrong.”

“Apparent mistake by Judge Engoron surfaces in his use of a Palm Beach County appraisal of Mar-a-Lago that, an expert says, ‘is detached from the true value of the property,” said Trump quoting an article by The New York Sun.
Trump has hammered the judge multiple times over his valuation of Mar-a-Lago.
Before ending his remarks, Trump took one last shot at his mounting legal problems, referencing both Georgia and special counsel Jack Smith.
“Take a look at these people. This is called election interference and worse than that, really much worse than that," Trump said. "And you don't get much worse than election interference.”
Trump’s latest pointed remarks come amid a federal fight by Smith to place a narrow gag order as a result of his remarks both in-person and online. While Smith’s request is pending, it is important to note that there is no gag order in this civil case.
