Trump Blasts Pennsylvania Automatic Voter Registration: ‘Disaster for the Election of Republicans’

Former President Donald Trump early Monday lashed out over Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro's move to introduce automatic voter registration in the state, calling it a "disaster for the Election of Republicans."

"Pennsylvania is at it again! The Radical Left Governor, Josh Shapiro, has just announced a switch to Automatic Voter Registration, a disaster for the Election of Republicans, including your favorite President, ME!" Trump wrote in a post just after midnight on Truth Social.

The 2024 GOP White House frontrunner said the move was a "totally Unconstitutional Act" and called on Republican leadership in Washington and Pennsylvania to focus on stopping the move instead of focusing on future primary debates, taking the time to hit a few of his GOP rivals.

"Likewise, the RNC, and Ronna McDaniel, must spend their time working on this, instead of meaningless Debates where I am up by more than 50 points," he said, calling on the RNC chairwoman to intervene.

"This is a totally Unconstitutional Act, and must be met harshly by Republican Leadership in Washington and Pennsylvania. "Start suing now, & get the right lawyers this time! The Pennsylvania Republican Party must likewise not let this happen. It will be a disaster for our Nation, which is being destroyed by these Lunatics, Marxists, & Fascists, whose only real ability is to CHEAT on Elections," Trump concluded.

The move from Shapiro makes it so that anyone who receives a state identification card or license would be automatically registered as a voter in the state. Pennsylvania residents would need opt out of the program to be removed from voter rolls.

Pennsylvania is the 24th state to have some form of automatic voter registration.
