Former President Donald Trump, the first president in American history to be impeached twice, called President Joe Biden "lucky" in a post on Truth Social Thursday following the House formalization of Biden's impeachment inquiry, which Trump says he didn't have the "luxury" of receiving an inquiry.

"I got Impeached TWICE, was found NOT GUILTY, TWICE, but the Democrats never gave me the benefit or luxury of an Impeachment INQUIRY. Had they done so I never would have been Impeached They went straight to a Trial, before knowing anything about my complete and total innocence," Trump wrote. "WITCH HUNT! It was disgraceful. Biden is lucky to only have an Inquiry, and he’s GUILTY AS HELL!"

During his four-year term as president, Trump was impeached two separate times. The first time, which was on December 18, 2019, for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress over Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump was impeached for a second time just days after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot for inciting an insurrection.

Despite his impeachments, both of which he was acquitted in the Senate, Trump maintained his innocence and has been openly vocal about the president's impeachment inquiry.

House Republicans approved formalizing their impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden on Wednesday in a party-line vote. They are investigating if the president acted illegally in relation to his son's foreign business dealings, although they have not yet released evidence that the president committed wrongdoing.

Formalizing the impeachment inquiry into President Biden means that three major committees can continue their investigations.
