Stefanik Rakes in Over $5 Million in Fundraising
The New York representative reported 35,000 first-time donors and an average donation of $25
Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., a rising star in the GOP and on the whisper list as one of Donald Trump's potential vice presidential picks, reported raising over $5 million during the final fundraising quarter of 2023, breaking her previous record.
The New York Republican reported a total of $5.2 million in donations with an average donation of $25. That includes 35,000 first-time donors and brings the Republican Conference Chair's total raised to over $13 million.
"I am grateful for the historic support from longtime and first-time donors in Upstate New York and across the country," Stefanik said in a statement. "It is clear the American people are looking for leadership and results, and I am committed to delivering both."
The fundraising numbers come after Stefanik's grilling of college presidents during a congressional hearing last month drew intense scrutiny over the university leaders' responses to questions about antisemitism on campuses. The contentious hearing led to national outcry against the presidents, and both the hearing and Stefanik herself were parodied on "Saturday Night Live."
The New York representative has also drawn speculation that she may be open to serving as former President Donald Trump's running mate.
