Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams insists that criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris boils down to "misogny and racism."

The author and Democrat joined MSNBC's Jen Psaki on Sunday and claimed Harris would not face the same criticism if she were white when asked about "scrutiny" the vice president is facing.

"We will always question the person behind the person. But we cannot ignore the misogyny and racism that remain very prevalent in our politics. And for those behaviors that don’t rise to either misogyny or racism, there’s also just a difference. Our expectations are set for the traditional white male vice president," she said.

Abrams claimed if you "filter" through critiques of Harris, you'll find "it is inextricably linked to race and gender."

"I know that if you filter through the critiques, if you think about how she is castigated, it is inextricably linked to race and gender. I applaud the poise with which she has responded," Abrams said.

She also told Psaki she has not ruled out running for office in the future.

Harris has been upping media appearances as of late, but she's continued to face low polling. According to Five Thirty Eight, her approval is sitting below 40% while her disapproval rating is topping 50%.
