Special counsel Jack Smith has withdrawn a subpoena issued to Save America, the political action committee for former President Donald Trump, which sought fundraising records and information pertaining to Trump's attempts to overturn the 2020 election, people familiar with the matter told The Washington Post.

When the subpoena was withdrawn, the Save America PAC was still in the process of acquiring all the requested documents.

Smith's withdrawal of the subpoena is reputedly an indication that he is scaling back his investigation into the political fundraising aspect of his indictment which suggests there was financial benefit from touting election fraud claims, the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to an ongoing criminal investigation, told the Post.

Trump's August indictment, which charges him with the alleged obstruction of the 2020 election, does not specifically mention the PAC.
