A group of 13 Senate Republicans, led by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., have sent a letter to the Biden Administration calling for constriction on the Texas-Mexico border to resume and be expanded.

"Despite the administration’s messaging on this issue, construction of a border wall is sorely needed as communities and elected officials across the country demand a more robust response to illegal immigration," the group of senators wrote. "We hope that this decision signals the beginning of a bipartisan consensus on the need for more physical deterrents on our southern border."

A current proposal from the Biden Administration would extend the wall 20 miles, but the senators are requesting for further expansion to deter illegal crossings in the states.

"Your administration’s decision to continue construction of the Trump Administration’s physical border wall is a step in combating 'high illegal entry' rates," the senators wrote. "With that, more must be done. We urge you to expand border wall construction efforts along the U.S.-Mexico border."

The lawmakers urged the White House to resubmit their August 2023 supplemental funding request for congressional approval to include additional physical border deterrents to occupy any extended land mass.

Joining Rubio in support of the letter were Sens. Rick Scott, R-Fla., Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., Mike Braun, R-Ind., Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., Katie Boyd Britt, R-Ala., Bill Cassidy, R-La., Mitt Romney, R-Utah, Steve Daines, R-Mont., Deb Fischer, R-Neb., and John Hoeven, R-N.D.
