Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, has joined in with other members of her party to mock Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's, D-N.Y., loosening of the chamber's informal dress code policy that would allow lawmakers to wear whatever they please on the floor.

"I think there is a certain dignity that we should be maintaining in the Senate, and to do away with the dress code, to me, debases the institution," Collins said, joking to reporters that she is going to "wear a bikini" on Tuesday.

Some Republicans are bashing the change, including Rep Marjorie Taylor Green of Georgia who called it "disgraceful," saying that Senate leadership is trying to appease Sen. John Fetterman, D-Penn., who is often seem wearing casual clothing like hoodies and shorts in the Capitol.

"Aren’t there more important things we should be talking about rather than if I dress like a slob?" Fetterman said in an interview on MSNBC.

While other members of the GOP, seem to be embracing the change.

Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri was seen wearing jeans and cowboy boots on the floor and Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska wore her "travel clothes," consisting of black pants, a quarter zip jacket, and sneakers.

"I would not normally wear this on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday," Murkowski told NBC. "I mean, it’s a respect thing, it’s like going to church in your jeans, or going to a funeral in jeans."

"I’m not so hung up on things to think that every single day a man needs to wear a necktie," she added.
