Sen. Sherrod Brown Reports $5.8 Million Fundraising Haul for Third Quarter
The Ohio senator is facing a crucial reelection bid in 2024
The campaign committee for Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, on Friday announced what it called a record-breaking off-year fundraising haul for an Ohio senator.
Friends of Sherrod Brown said it will be reporting $5.8 million raised this quarter and $11.2 million in cash on hand as Brown gears up to defend his key 2024 Senate seat as Democrats hope to keep their narrow majority in the upper chamber.
“While the multi-millionaires running to take on Sherrod had to cut themselves fat checks in an attempt to buy Ohio’s Senate seat, Sherrod is building a winning coalition based on his record of fighting for Ohio workers and the Dignity of Work,” said Rachel Petri, Friends of Sherrod Brown Campaign Manager, in a statement.
Friends of Sherrod Brown reported 97% of individual donations were below $100 and that the campaign received donations from all 88 counties in Ohio.
Brown will face the winner of a competitive Republican primary that includes businessman Bernie Moreno, Secretary of State Frank LaRose and State Sen. Matt Dolan.
Moreno reported $4 million in fundraising this quarter, though $3 million of that came from himself. Former President Donald Trump has not issued an endorsement in the GOP primary yet, but has praised Moreno. Moreno has already won the endorsement of Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio.
